India, Dubai and the UK team clock

The India–Gulf–UK corridor — Kolkata, Dubai and London — on one live timeline, with hour-by-hour tables of who is at work when. All three cities overlap every working day; here is by how much.

Opens with Kolkata (IST) as the home city and Dubai (GST), London (GMT) beside it. Drag the timeline to any hour to convert it; add your own city with the search box. Nothing is sent to a server.

night · dawn · morning · midday · afternoon · dusk — click a city for the big clock, drag a band to travel through the day

    When is everyone in?

The tables below assume a nine-to-six day in each city and count, for every hour of Kolkata's day, how many of the 3 offices are inside theirs. That is an assumption, printed so you can see it — not a recommendation, because nothing here knows anyone's real hours. There is one table per arrangement of the clocks, because 2 different arrangements occur during 2026.

Shaded cells are inside that city's nine-to-six; a highlighted row has every office in. For a different working day or another city, use the timeline above — the daylight colour on each band is the same question answered by the sun.

    Working across Kolkata, Dubai, London

Westward from India the time zones are kind. Dubai is an hour and a half behind, London four and a half or five and a half, and neither gap is wide enough to break a working day: the three cities share a genuine afternoon. The tables below put numbers on it — all three at work from mid-afternoon to the end of the Indian day, roughly three and a half hours in the British winter and four and a half in British Summer Time — and it is the reason so much India-based delivery for Gulf and British customers runs without anyone working nights.

Only London changes its clocks. India has kept UTC+5:30 since independence and the UAE has never had daylight saving, so the India–Dubai gap is fixed and the only movement in the footprint is the UK's, on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October. That gives two arrangements a year, both printed below; in summer London comes an hour closer to the other two and the shared window grows by an hour.

The relay on this footprint runs west. India has the morning to itself; Dubai joins at 10:30am Indian time; London joins at 2:30pm or 1:30pm; India leaves at 6pm and Dubai an hour and a half later, leaving London with its own late afternoon. Escalations flow the same way — an Indian morning problem reaches a Gulf desk by mid-morning there and a London desk before its lunch — which is the property a support organisation built on this corridor is paying for.

The calendar week is the thing to check, not the clock. The UAE moved to a Monday-to-Friday week in January 2022, with Friday a half day, so Dubai now matches India and the UK for four and a half days; the rest of the Gulf — Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman — still works Sunday to Thursday, and a Riyadh or Doha office is also an hour further back at UTC+3. The tool above shades Saturdays and Sundays; it does not know about Friday afternoons or Sunday-to-Thursday weeks, so check the invite.

The date rarely differs on this footprint — only in the last hour and a half before midnight in India is Dubai still on the day before, and London until 6:30pm or 7:30pm India time is on the same date as India — so the day-change rows in the tables below are few. The names are worth a moment: GMT is only London's winter clock, and IST also means Israel and Irish Standard Time; the tool works in Asia/Kolkata, Asia/Dubai and Europe/London and avoids the question.

    Frequently asked questions

When are India, Dubai and London all at work?
From when London's day starts — 2:30pm India time in the British winter, 1:30pm in British Summer Time — until India's day ends at 6pm. Dubai is at work throughout. That is three and a half hours in winter and four and a half in summer; the tables above give the exact rows.
Which of the three cities changes its clocks?
Only London, on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October. India and the UAE keep the same offset all year, so the India–Dubai difference is fixed at an hour and a half and only the gaps to London move.
Does Dubai share India's and the UK's weekend?
Mostly, since January 2022: the UAE now works Monday to Friday with a half day on Friday. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman still work Sunday to Thursday, and are an hour behind Dubai — add the right city if the Gulf office is not in the UAE.
